BOTOX

Are Botox® and Xeomin® cosmetics safe?

Both have a long and well-established safety history. While you may only know BOTOX® as a wrinkle treatment, it has actually being used for over 18 years for the effective treatment of a range of medical conditions and is one of the most widely researched medicines in the world.

Will treatment make me lose facial expression?

BOTOX® and Xeomin® are intended to enhance the way you look, not change it. When administered by an experience health care professional, you can still smile, frown and animate. The treatment only relaxes the muscle beneath the lines at the point on injection, so other elements of facial express remain active.

Is the treatement painful?

Cosmetic treatment is quick and simple. A very fine needle and small amount of liquid is used, so the pain associated with the injection is minimal. No anaesthetic is required and you can resume normal activities, however no heavy exercise for 4 hours post treatment.

What is the difference between Botox®/Xeomin® and filler?

Unlike facial fillers, BOTOX® and XEOMIN® do not fill in facial lines or restore volume loss. It relaxes the muscles underneath the skin that cause the lines. Facial fillers help to fill in the facial lines and give back volume lost over time.

What are the commonly treated areas?

Injections to temporarily improve the fine lines around eyes caused my squinting, also known as “crow’s feet” are common. BOTOX® and XEOMIN® are also used to treat the horizontal lines across the forehead caused by raising eyebrows, and the lines between the eyebrows caused my frowning. Other treatment areas can include – relaxing the down pull at the side of the mouth, defining the jaw line, relaxing neck bands that contribute to sagging, and reducing the crease in the chin.

How and when does the treatment work?

It works by relaxing the muscles which prevents the skin from creasing. It can take up to 2 weeks to see the full results and these can last up to 3 months. Results vary for each person.

What are Botox® and Xeomin®

Xeomin (Merz), Botox (Allergan) are all injectable neuromodulators, meaning they can temporarily alter the nerve impulses of targeted muscles, therefore reducing or eliminating contraction-induced wrinkles. Each brand has a slightly different formulation of the same substance Botulinum Toxin A. Botox was first to market and the popularity of the procedure earned it the name 'Botoxed'. Xeomin is a newer generation product with the same reliable results.
