How does PRP work?

Platelets contain bioactive proteins that secrete protein growth factors that triggers healing of human body tissue. Injecting platelet rich plasma stimulates regeneration of collagen and elastin which results in improved skin texture, volume and elasticity.

Is the PRP procedure safe?

To create the PRP a small quantity of the patient’s blood is drawn. The whole blood is separated in a centrifuge to isolate layers of red blood cells and platelets. The end product of platelets is carefully drawn into a syringe for injection using an aseptic technique with disposable sterile needles. You will be advised on aftercare such as how to care for the skin and limiting strenuous exercise. Downtime is minimal and make up can be applied the morning after.

How does PRP help stimulate hair growth?

The procedure works by stimulating stem cells and tissure regeneration. In the case of hair loss, the injected platelets prompt inactive or newly implanted hair follicles to enter an active growth phase, causing the hair to start growing again. Clinical studies about the effectiveness of PRP and the longevity of results are inconclusive, mostly due to the fact that there is no standardized procedure and different practitioners use different injection formulas and strategies. One study involving 11 patients found “a significant reduction in hair loss” between the first injection and the fourth and an increase in the average number of hair follicles per square centimeter of scalp. Another study of 20 patients concluded that PRP “may have a positive therapeutic effect” on male and female pattern hair loss without major side effects.

Is PRP a natural procedure and how long does it last?

One of the benefits of the Platelet Rich Plasma Facelift is that the procedure is performed quickly and long-lasting results can be achieved usually after 2 or 3 treatments. This treatment eliminates the risk of allergic reaction or rejection from your body because the plasma is derived from your own blood. The benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma therapy on your skin generally last for around nine to 18 months, depending on individual patients. Compared to most other medical facials, that require you to purchase packages and keep returning for numerous treatment sessions over months to see results, PRP is a huge time and money saver.

How much does PRP cost?

The general recommendation is 3 treatments, usually two weeks but no more than one month apart. Please contact us for treatment pricing, packages and current promotions!
