Platelets contain proteins called growth factors, which are responsible for healing. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains a much higher concentration of platelets (and therefore, growth factors) than typically found in blood. A small amount of blood is drawn and centrifuged to obtain PRP, and then it's injected into the desired site.

The procedure is completely sterile. You'll experience little to no pain, and risks associated with the procedure are minimal.

To create the PRP a small quantity of the patient’s blood is drawn. The whole blood is separated in a centrifuge to isolate layers of red blood cells and platelets. The end product of platelets is carefully drawn into a syringe for injection using an aseptic technique with disposable sterile needles.

You will be advised on aftercare such as how to care for the skin and limiting strenuous exercise. Downtime is minimal and make up can be applied the morning after.
